After fourteen trophy-less years and following a very unpromising start, Howard Kendall brought the good times back to Goodison Park. From 1984 to 1987, Evertonians enjoyed one of the most successful periods in the club's illustrious history and The 80s Team charts that glorious era game-by-game.

Along the way, we take a look back at the players and managers who have shaped Everton’s past, as well as showcasing the big games played at the club's famous grounds, Anfield and Goodison Park, including the 1966 World Cup matches with profiles of football legends Pelé, Eusébio and Franz Beckenbauer, who all graced the hallowed turf that year.

Everton fans, such as acclaimed broadcasters Elton Welsby, Alan Myers and Cornelius Lysaght as well as Rob Sloman, director of the definitive film about the Blues in the 1980s, Everton, Howard's Way, also share their fond memories of supporting the club and we feature dozens of original teletext pages from Ceefax and Oracle which have not been seen for forty years. 

This Goodbye Goodison Park edition also contains many evocative photographs showcasing the ground's history, from a visit by King George V and Queen Mary in 1913, to the unique day in 1966 when the World Cup, the FA Cup and the League championship trophy were paraded around the pitch, plus that dramatic, unforgettable James Tarkowski volley in the final Merseyside derby under the lights.
