Born and raised in the Caribbean, Brendon Batson arrived in England during the early 1960s against a backdrop of racial tension and social change. Yet it was within the confines working-class London that the young, athletic footballer was spotted by Arsenal, becoming the club's first-ever black professional footballer.
Promotion with Cambridge United followed, before a spell with West Bromwich Albion propelled him into the national spotlight. From there it was to the Professional Footballers Association, where Brendon Batson became one of the predominant statesmen in football.
From personal battles with racism and grief, and a playing career cut short by injury, Brendon Batson takes us on a journey of his life and career. Published in 2023.
Note: These books have been autographed by Brendon Batson.
