Liverpool were looking for a messiah and they found one. His name was Bill Shankly.

When he became manager in December 1959, the club had been in the doldrums for year. A lack of investment and direction gave the impression that the club were contrent to bob along with the also-rans, but with Shankly's appointment, the club were to be catapulted into becoming the giants of the game they remain to this day.

The 1960's was a fascinating time in the history of Great Britain, a period of great social upheaval, during which Liverpool was to become one of the most exciting cities in the world, renowned for both it's music scene and vibrant football culture.

This excitement was reflected in the number of music and football publications that were produced at this time.
