Veitch was Captain of the successful side which won the League title in 1905, 1907 and 1909 and lifted the F.A. Cup in 1910. Away from football, Veitch was a lover of the arts who co-founded the People's Theatre in Newcastle and was an accomplished playwright, composer, conductor and producer and later became Chairman of the PFA for a number of years.
